Hello, I'm Wendy!

I specialize in designing and crafting high-quality mohair doll wigs for your antique doll or antique reproduction dolls. I am a self taught doll wig artist and started creating my mohair doll wigs back in 1977.  When I first started making my wigs ,I was a young single girl and my last name was Haugen, you will see my signature in all of my early made wigs. I do sign and date all of my wigs still to this day, either Wendy Feidt, or Wendy J.Feidt.

In the beginning , my mother was a long time antique doll collector and she encouraged me to learn the art. She bought my first little shoebox of mohair from a doll market in London England and on a Sunday afternoon I made my first wig with my mother's help. It was so much fun, but created the worst mess. After one month, I was in business after selling my first very primitive made, mohair doll wigs sold exclusively to one antique doll dealer from Kansas.

When I no longer sold my wigs exclusively, I created my first doll wig catalog and went out on my own.

My customers were also my teachers and instructed me on styles they needed and the colors they were looking for, I was so blessed. .

All of my wigs are handmade from the finest mohair grown here in the United States and imported from the United Kingdom    Each wig has a hand sewn 100% cotton cloth cap and is custom made with your doll head measurements that you send to me when ordering.

I work on reproduction bisque doll heads so I can achieve the correct shape of a dolls head, never do I work on styrofoam balls.

Over many years I have created over 62 designs for Antique and reproduction doll collectors , doll studio's and private collectors. I also made  custom wig designs for doll studios for several years ,but found I could not continue doing them due to the dedication of time to make them.

My wigs are handmade which means each one is unique to your doll and will vary a little.

My wigs have been shown in Doll Reader, Doll Artisan Guild and Antique Doll Collector. I have also been featured in Grit Magazine and Ripley's Believe It or Not, with a drawing of myself holding one of my wig creations.

All mohair has different characteristics based on the particular goat. I primarily work with raw mohair grown in the United States , which I handwash and dye during the summer months. I also work with English mohair imported from England . This type of mohair creates my Original styles and Lady wig designs and some of my antique designs in smaller sizes.

When I am not washing mohair outside I am tending my large ornamental flower garden, which I created over 40 years ago. It is a hobby I love and it gives me a place to work out new ideas and get a little exercise from sitting all day in my studio.

It's been nearly 49 years I have been making wigs for the finest antique dolls around the world.  It has been such a joy meeting and working with all of you. Without you, I would never have been able to last as many years as I have and for that I feel so blessed to be able to create what I love, mohair wigs for your special dolls and working with you.
